CE Marking: machines that comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive
Needless to say, safety and sustainability are a high priority for Venrooy Cable Equipment. The machines we manufacture are provided with the mandatory CE Marking. This guarantees that they comply with the fundamental European requirements concerning the user's health, safety and environment. To be permitted to label the machines with CE Marking, they must comply with the Machinery Directive. In other words, a machine cannot be labelled with the CE Marking without justification. The Machinery Directive is a European guideline that contains a large number of health and safety requirements. Examples that come to mind include the following:
- No jamming hazard
- No cutting hazard
- No electric shock hazard
- No hearing loss hazard
- Ergonomically responsible operation
- Provision of clear information
Safety Risk Analysis
A safety risk analysis must be completed to be able to comply with the Machinery Directive. This includes a review of the risks involved in making use of the machine (and any potential incorrect use), assembly, maintenance, service, transport, etc. It includes, but is not necessarily limited to, an assessment of the following:- Mechanical hazards (for example, moving parts, sharp corners, rotating parts)
- Noise (possibility of hearing loss due to excessive noise)
- Thermal hazards (for example, hot parts)
- Ergonomic hazards (for example, improper posture, repeated exertion, hindrance due to personal protective equipment)
- Availability of safety equipment (for example, emergency stop and protective covers)
- Other hazards (for example, due to electricity, hydraulic and pneumatic parts)
